New National Park proposed in Scotland

River Garry and Garry Bridge

Tay Forest is one of the proposed areas for a new National Park to be announced in Scotland next year. Scottish Government is currently carrying out public consultation online and in person at a few community events in Perthshire.

This is a “rare opportunity to seek international recognition for Highland Perthshire’s outstanding natural beauty and rich cultural and landscape diversity”. Anyone who visited the Soldier’s Leap, the Hermitage, the Queen’s View, or admired ospreys at Loch of the Lowes agrees this designation is paramount. It would bring many benefits to the areas including funding for sustainable tourist and environmental management.

Deadline for taking part in the consultation – 1 December, 2023.
